5 Reasons I Wouldn’t Mind Having a Boyfriend

I’m single. Single af, as the kids like to say.

I have an online dating account but it’s pretty depressing. Online dating is pretty depressing. Hell, dating in general these days is pretty depressing.

And though I do enjoy being single most of the time, I have my moments of envying the people in my life who have a better half. Why, exactly, do I enjoy them, though? I’m so glad you want to know because I came up with a list. Here are five reasons why I wouldn’t mind having a boyfriend.

I’d Have Someone to Drive Me Around

I hate driving. I mean, I REALLY hate driving. Especially in the Valley of the Sun aka Valley of the Moronic Drivers. It’s stressful and not fun and if I’m ever doing any kind of activity with another person, I almost always convince them to be the driver. If I had a boyfriend, he would do all the driving sans complaint (hopefully. I am aware that some guys out there don’t like to drive) and I would sit happily in the passenger seat and let him worry about texters and bumper riders and the people who think they’re doing laps on a freaking race car circuit.

I’d Have a Running Buddy

I run a couple times a week. Not because I enjoy it but because I eat a lot of unhealthy food and I need the cardio. If I had a man in my life who also liked to run, hitting the pavement and the desert trails would be a lot more fun. Someone to talk to, race against, and just generally be my motivator when I don’t feel like running (which is every time I get up to run).

I’d Have Someone to Dog Sit for Me

I do not like to leave my dog home alone for long periods of time. No, he doesn’t chew up my things or pee everywhere once I leave. He’s perfectly well-behaved while I’m gone. But he’s also not a huge fan of being alone. Ideally, my boyfriend could stay with him if I need to go out and run some errands or want to do a fun activity with my friends, leaving me free to enjoy my social time without worrying about being away from home for too long.

I’d Have a Healthy Eating Buddy

As I mentioned above, I don’t eat as many healthy foods as I should. I eat some, but not enough. Having a boyfriend who also wants to eat healthy would be great because then we could cook meals together, pick restaurants with healthy dishes, and talk to and encourage each other when we’re feeling tempted to down a piece of cake or order a sundae.

I’d Have Someone to Sit Quietly with Me

I’m very much an introvert. My ideal evening consists of sitting at home with my dog, curled up on the couch with a good book. I do this most nights and I love it. But sometimes I think about how nice it would be to have a man sitting next to me, reading his own book. We wouldn’t have to talk. But maybe our legs would touch. Our toes. We could snuggle up against each other and sit in enjoyable silence.

So there you have it, five reasons I wouldn’t mind having a boyfriend.

Perhaps one day, if I do meet a man I want to get serious with, I’ll show him this list and we’ll check everything off.

Stay tuned!
